About the Better Dais Foundation (BDF):

The BDF was established in 2021 by Founder William (Daisy) Williams and Co-Founder Minerva Santellana, along with the support and guidance of a Board of Directors. On May 25, 2019, Daisy was diagnosed with in stage renal failure. As participants of the Paired Kidney Exchange Program, and with God’s grace, Minerva lovingly and graciously donated a kidney to a stranger which in return placed Daisy on the top of the kidney transplant list. On August 20, 2020, Daisy received his new kidney, allowing him for a second chance in life.

This precious gift has allowed Daisy to fulfill his lifelong dream. After a successful kidney transplant, Daisy decided to move forward with fulfilling his lifelong vision of serving the community of San Marcos, Texas, specifically assisting and providing aid to the families of the San Marcos Housing Authority.

Daisy, along with his siblings, Linda, Cathy, Phillip, and Joseph, and his Mama Robbie Mae Williams resided in Allen Woods – San Marcos Housing Authority Unit. This special place was Daisy’s home for 12 years. Daisy fondly recalls residing in Allen Woods from 1st – 12th grade. Allen Woods is a home close and dear to his heart.

On June 6, 2021, Daisy was diagnosed with cancer. After a tough battle, and by the grace of God, Daisy is now in remission. Despite being diagnosed with cancer, Daisy firmly believes in providing hope for all and to inspire people to let them know that there indeed are better dais (days) ahead.

“The love that I have received over the years has made me realize that it doesn’t matter where you come from or if you made mistakes along the way. It’s about giving back to our youth. It’s about letting families know that there is hope. The goal of this foundation is to touch as many lives as we can and to make a difference. Our vision is to support underprivileged children, provide tools and resources for low-income families to better their future, and to better serve the youth of Hays County. This is what we believe our Father has chosen us to do. I am a believer of hope and faith and firmly believe that there is promise for Better Days (Dais) ahead.“
